URINARY INCONTINENCE IN WOMEN UNDER 50

Description and Possible Medical Problems

Though urinary incontinence affects women of all ages, it’s rarely a problem in women who are still menstruating. Most often, the cause is a simple urinary tract infection, although many women report that they have a problem with urinary incontinence during pregnancy. This is caused by the pressure that’s exerted on the bladder by the fetus.

Treatment

In the younger woman, occasional urinary incontinence is not a serious problem, and it requires no special treatment. If the problem starts to occur on a regular basis, however, or if you feel pain or burning when you urinate, you should see your doctor. If you have a urinary tract infection, you will be treated with antibiotics and told to drink more fluids.
